About the Artist
Carole Wade is accustomed to a bold and adventurous lifestyle, and you can see it in her paintings.
Carole is an avid sailor, skier, and climber. Her adventures have taken her to a dozen countries, many of them visited by boat.
Carole photographs the places she visits — the cities and villages, ski slopes and seasides — and this practice has formed the basis of her strong, colorful acrylic paintings.
In 2001, Carole returned from a 4-year, single-handed circumnavigation of the Atlantic Ocean in her 30' Allied Seawind ketch, Italic. Her major ports of call were Bermuda, the Azores, Spain, Portugal, Madeira and the Canary Islands, and scenes from this voyage can be seen in her work.
On the difference between painting and sailing Carole notes, “It takes more courage for me to put brush to canvas than it took to set sail on the ocean alone.”
Prior to becoming a full-time artist, Carole had a successful, award-winning career as a graphic designer.
Carole has won many prestigious awards for her painting including the Juror’s Choice and Best of Show awards at the 2003 Summer and Autumn Juried Shows (respectively) at the Falmouth, Cape Cod, Artists’ Guild. In 2011 she was awarded Best in Show at the Kimball/Park City Art Festival. Art & Soup honored Carole as the featured artist in their March event the same year.
